Hey Calgary Area Dance Teachers....Here are a few opportunities for some Professional Development!

Teachers’ Appreciation Days during Teachers Convention

EPCOR CENTRE’s annual Teachers’ Appreciation Days celebrates educators. We invite you to join us at any time during our two-day event planned in collaboration with the CCTCA, including multi-disciplinary workshops, panel discussions, artist showcase and much more.

TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Each January, DJD will provide a series of workshops that will specifically address the needs of dance, music and phys ed teachers in Calgary and area school systems.
Jr & Sr. High Teachers
The following areas will be covered in a variety of workshop offerings (selection will vary year to year):
  • Jazz: Warm-up basics, Across the floor possibilities, Creating choreography, Swing dance and Understanding jazz music
  • Hip Hop: History, Style, Basics and Foundations
  • West African: Introduction to the form
  • Modern Dance: Basics
  • Jazz Dance For kids
    DJD is also open to suggestions to fit the needs of the participants.
Fees: From $22–28/class
Classes are held at: Decidedly Jazz Danceworks

ELEMENTARY TEACHERS

Enjoy a Teacher In-service Professional Development session for your staff! A DJD Arts in Education representative will come to your school to brainstorm links to dance and curriculum, expand on existing physical education initiatives, add movement to a music program, and inspire your staff to get your students moving!
Length: 1-3 hours
Fees:
 From $22–28/class
Open to: All elementary schools in the Calgary area
